Snæfellsnes Peninsula Tours In Iceland
Snæfellsnes Peninsula is in West of Iceland where you can see a spectacular Icelandic landscape. sand beaches, cliffs, beautiful mountains, glacier, lava fields, valleys and volcanic craters. A bit of everything here.
Includes a pick up at your accommodation in the Reykavík area by an English speaking guide and the route is West to Borgarnes where we make a quick stop. Then we head along to Snæfellsnes to Arnarstapi where you can go for a short walk along the cliffs and discover rich birdlife and beautiful scenery.
Next stop is Hellnar where it´s possible to buy some lunch and coffee and enjoy it under the Snæfellsnes glacier which is a 700.000 year old stratovolcano with glacier hut and a home to the Jules Verne novel “Journey to the center of the Earth”. Then we head to Djúpalónssandur to explore the black beach, lava stacks and ocean polished pebbles. If we are lucky we may see seals or even whales from the coast. The road leads us through several fishing villages, spectacular lava fields and birdlife. Extra stops such as photo opportunities will be at the discretion of your guide depending on time constraints, weather and road conditions.
Duration of this trip is approximately 10 hours and drop off is at your accommodation or at your request in the Reykjavík area. Note that this tour does not include lunch or snacks but we will stop at suitable locations for refreshments. Suitable clothes and shoes is another good thing to keep in mind.
